Home is where the website is.

You’re here. You found us. And we could not be more excited. Welcome to our new website.

My name is Hal Ungerleider, Manager Respiratory Care, UW Medicine: UW Medical Center Northwest Campus — and active member of the Respiratory Care Society of Washington for more than a decade and a therapist for almost 23 years.

Over the last several months our profession has been thrust into the limelight as a very important and influential faction of essential workers. The exposure and our ability to support patients, hospitals, industry partners, and our communities continues to fuel awareness and growth for respiratory care. This novel coronavirus spurning on the COVID-19 pandemic reinforced our need and desire to communicate with our members.

It’s one of the most important aspects that we can provide to you, for you.

I am passionate about communication.  I currently Co-Chair the RCSW Conference Committee and Chair the more recently formed Communication Committee. The Communication Committee, born of our society’s commitment to reach every single member, seeks to engage and provide timely, relevant and useful information at multiple, highly accessible touchpoints.

As I think back, I graduated high school when there were less than 600 websites and Internet Explorer did not exist. By the time I graduated from Respiratory Care School, Netscape and Microsoft were battling over the “internet” space and the following year, Google was born. Fast forward 25 years later to 2020 and I bet you are reading this on your phone.

Today we are excited to announce the launch of this brand new website and our new mobile app.

Did you know RCSW was the first state respiratory care organization that produced an app for its members? It is a great go-to, hands-on tool that will be heavily leveraged for our conferences and events when they return in-person, hopefully one day in our nearer future. You can download it for iOS and Android.

Our new mobile-friendly website is designed to be more accessible , easier to navigate, and updated more frequently. to help you No matter which you choose (we recommend both) — you will more quickly and easily find out what we are doing around the state, discover ways to become more involved, and give us feedback on how we can improve to serve you better.

We continue to develop new processes and tools to meet this growing demand.

The website and app will be updated regularly. We are building out our email capabilities, virtual conferences, and delving into a podcast for 2021.

In November, I will transition into the role of President-Elect continuing to serve our society and our members. Help us connect with you by filling out this form. You will be added to our email list — and we promise not to overload or SPAM your inbox.

Let’s connect.
