Capnography Trends in Procedural Sedation Jim Fielder RRT There is increased awareness of ventilation management issues during short duration procedures. Often respiratory therapists are asked to assist or educate. Inhaled nebulized prostacyclins are being reported in the literature as possibly as effective as inhaled nitric oxide in the treatment of pulmonary hypertension, etc….

Our hospital introduced a mechanical ventilator management and protocols in 2002 with very positive outcomes. HLOS and VLOS were reduced by 1.5 days etc…

Sheldon, MD, FAARC Beaver Clinic, Redlands, CA, Dr. Sheldon graduated from Loma Linda University School of Medicine and interned in Denver Colorado prior to being drafted in the Army as a Major. He returned to Loma Linda University holding many positions,including the President of the Medical Physicians, Inc He has authored and co- authored many articles, editorials and RC textbook contributions and was honored in 2001 with the Jimmy A. Young Medalist (past AARC president) – the AARC’s most distinguish honor. He is currently the Medical Director of California State’s Respiratory Care Board.
