Respiratory Associates of Texas, AARC-approved continuing education
www.respiratorycare-online.com
The Texas Department of Health (TDH) requires
all CRCEs not only be approved by an accepted approval agency, but they must
also be directly related to respiratory care. Just because a seminar has CRCE
approval doesn't guarantee it TDH acceptance. This also applies to AARC approved
courses.
Our continuing education programs, whether live or online, are all approved by
the American Association for Respiratory Care (AARC). All of our courses are
also "directly related to respiratory care". This means you will never
have a problem with the TDH accepting your CRCEs when you attend one of our
seminars.
Live events are approved for either 6 or 8 Category 1 CRCE hours. Partial credit
is also available. Click the "Event Calendar" navigation button on the
left for seminar dates & locations.
Online courses are approved by the American Association for Respiratory Care (a
must for TDH acceptance) for 1 CRCE hour each. We currently have 18 available
online, all with AARC approval. The courses are free to use - you only need to
pay us if you desire CRCE credit. Click the "Online CEUs" navigation
button on the left for courses & information
Each presentation consists of slides, similar to a PowerPoint or FreeLance
presentation, with audio narration from the author. This is similar to being in
the lecture room with the addition of hypertext links throughout the
presentations. You will be able to view the presentations free of charge. The
only time you need to pay us is when you desire to receive CRCE credit. The cost
is $10 per credit hour.

TechEd Consultants Releases Computer Based
Training for Spirometry Performance
http://www.techedconsultants.com
(MASON, Michigan) May 10,
2002-----TechEd Consultants has released a computer based training program on
CD-ROM entitled, "Spirometry: Producing Quality Results". The program
focuses on spirometry performance in an interactive format.
The program is designed for training and annual competence assessment in
multiple healthcare settings where spirometry may be performed including
clinics, physician offices, occupational health, and hospitals.
Susan Blonshine RRT, RPFT, FAARC, AE-C, Director of TechEd Consultants,
emphasizes the need for valid spirometry results in the treatment of respiratory
diseases.
Both nurses and respiratory therapists will find this a valuable tool to begin
understanding the methods required to obtain valid test results or to review
concepts previously learned. The program is self-paced with a post-test offered
on the Internet for final approval of contact hours.
The course covers all aspects of spirometry performance in accordance with the
AARC Clinical Practice Guideline (CPG) and the American Thoracic Society (ATS)
standards and recommendations. Several regulatory agencies and national
guidelines refer to the ATS standards and guidelines as required for adequate
spirometry performance.
The course is approved for 2 contact hours for respiratory therapists by the
American Association for Respiratory Care and 3.2 contact hours for nursing by
the Michigan Nurses Association, which is accredited as an approver of
continuing education in nursing by the American Nurses Credentialing Center
Commission on Accreditation.
The course includes 8 interactive chapters following spirometry performance from
the initial patient introduction through reporting the final results.
"Well-trained and knowledgeable testing staff is the key component of
quality spirometry testing. The problem is many do not receive adequate
training and/or competency assessment. This instructional tool is user
friendly, comprehensive and fills a vital need in assuring quality spirometry
results." Carl D. Mottram, BA, RRT RPFT, FAARC
